Towmotor Corporation (f.1919), was a Cleveland, Ohio-based company founded by Lester M. Sears (1888-1967). The firm began when Sears unveiled his prototype for the first gasoline-powered tractor designed specifically for industrial use. The Caterpillar Tractor Company was formed in 1925 by the merger of the Holt Manufacturing Company of Stockton, California, and Peoria, Illinois, and the C.L.
